AN ALL-BFGOODRICH PODIUM IN FRANCE

Dani Snobeck (Peugeot 307 WRC/BFGoodrich)
snatched victory in the 60th Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières, an event he hasn't contested since 1983! David Salanon (Peugeot 307 WRC/BFGoodrich) seemed to have an unassailable lead until he went off shortly before the finish, while Arnaud Augoyard (Peugeot 306 Maxi/BFGoodrich) secured top honours in the first round of the French BFGoodrich Trophy.

The 176 competitors - including some 50 drivers registered for the 2008 BFGoodrich Trophy – set off from Lyon on Friday afternoon under threatening skies. The combination of wet and dry conditions made tyre choices particularly difficult, with some drivers, including David Salanon (Peugeot 307 WRC), taking the cautious option of rain tyres, while others gambled on 're-cut' dry weather A01s. The prevailing conditions for the second day, which took in the classic Beaujolais stages, were much more straightforward, however.

With a score of ten fastest times from the first ten stages to his name, David Salanon seemed to have the event well under control. With just two stages to go, however, his Peugeot 307 WRC left the road to hand victory to veteran Dani Snobeck in his similar BFGoodrich-shod car. Normandy-based Eric Brunson inherited second place following a series of retirements which included that of Eric Mauffrey (Peugeot 306 Maxi) who was leading the BFGoodrich Trophy classification when his gearbox failed.

Arnaud Augoyard (Peugeot 306 Maxi/BFGoodrich) finished on the podium to win the first round of the 2008 BFGoodrich Trophy which offers amateurs an attractive prize-fund in the form of cash awards and tyres. Yoann Bonato (Suzuki Swift/BFGoodrich) won the Suzuki Rally Cup, a single-make series organised by Suzuki in association with BFGoodrich.
