SCORE OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP
SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 (round 4)
Robby Gordon comes up trumps again
Robby Gordon's second win of the season has seen him extend his lead at the top of the provisional points table ahead of November's classic, the Baja 1000. Gordon was joined on the podium by Armin Schwarz and Martin Kristensen who came third overall to win their class with the Class 1 Buggy/BFGoodrich.
The penultimate round of the 2009 SCORE Off-Road Championship took teams to the state of Nevada, not far from Las Vegas. The route was the same as in 2008, but run in the opposite direction. It also caused something of a stir among competitors inasmuch as recce was not permitted. The 109 starters consequently had to complete their four attempts at the 69-mile loop in hanging dust without notes!
In order to defend his lead in the championship, Robby Gordon (Chevy CK 1500) chose to skip a clashing NASCAR event. He won't have regretted that decision, since it enabled him to pick up his second success of the year by a margin of almost a minute over Rob MacCachren (Chevy Silverado/BFGoodrich).
Germany's Armin Schwarz and Martin Kristensen repeated their third place of 2008 to collect another podium finish with the BFGoodrich-equipped Class 1 Jimco-BMW buggy. They finished ahead of several far more powerful Trophy Truck runners, including last year's victor Roger Norman (Ford F-150) who managed no higher than sixth this time round.
